Screentime Math Thought Experiment

Updated: Oct 24, 2025

Happy Friday Everyone,

This week we want to highight the profound potential for time reclamation that the SLEKE phone can give you. Let's explore this through a thought experiment using simple mathematics.

There is a ton of data out there on average daily screentime and the numbers seem to vary from anywhere between 2 hours to 5.5 hours per day. For the sake of this piece, we will go with 3 hours, which we believe is a conservative estimate.

From our own early data gathering and several anecdotes from Users, those using the SLEKE phone appear to average around 1 hour per day on the device. While we're still confirming these numbers as our User base grows, the pattern is promising.

Let's imagine you're an average User who goes from 3 hours a day to 1 hour a day. That's 2 hours per day of potential time savings from using the SLEKE phone. To put this in more impactful terms, let's do some more math. Hypothetically, let's say you're 30 years ol dnad hope to live to 90. You have 60 years left. Every day we are awake for roughly 16 hours, so while there are 24 hours in a day only 16 of those pertain to our waking life.

Those two hours a day that you save through the SLEKE phone amounts to 1/8th of your potential waking life. So, you can reclaim 12.5% of your waking life. If you live another 60 years, that means you could gain an additional 7.5 years of time!

Now, we're not naive about how time works. We won't make grandiose claims that the time saved is automatically going to change your life. We are humbly saying that those 2 hours saved are an opportunity for everyone who uses this device. It's certainly possible that some of those reclaimed phone time shifts to other forms of screen time, but you at least have a fighting chance of turning it into something more fruitful.

What distinguishes us most is the difference between mindless screentime and intentional screen use. The SLEKE phone is designed to break the cycle of unconscious, compulsive phone checking that fills thoes small moments throughout your day. When you are out and about with friends and family, the intentional design of thise device will lend itself to you having less of an ability to escape the moment through compulsive checking of your device. It nudges you into the present, towards life. As opposed to current smartphones, which are filled with apps that engage in deliberate behavioral nudging to keep you on your phone, SLEKE believes in less phone, more life.

Again, there is no guarantee that you will use those hours perfectly, we can't promise that. However, we believe that providing Users with the opportunity for more intentional time use is meaningful and invaluable. What will you do with those reclaimed moments/ Maybe, just maybe, the time saved is spent on more life-affirming endeavors. That's our hope.

Thanks for reading and see you next week.

Do Cool Stuff.
